Luj Danijel Armstrong je rodjen 4 avg. 1901 godine u Nju Orelans-u, tacnije u Lusijani, i ziveo je bas u to vreme i u tom mestu gde je KuKluxKlan imao najvise clanova i najveci uticaj.
Luj je bio talentovani dzes muzicar i ljudi su ga voleli zbog ljudske topline i velikodusosti, kao i zbog simpaticne
osobnosti "velikog deteta" koje se raduje zivotu i zivi za muziku.
Znao je neverovatno cisto da svira na trubi i imao je specificni, hrapavi glas.
